India’s first world-class integrated resort in casino outside the state of Goa is expected to officially open its doors next year, signifying the country’s intention to boost its tourism industry.
The casino will be owned by the Delta Corporation, the same company that already owns three offshore floating casinos close to the coast of Goa. The new casino will be located in Daman, an area close to Mumbai, and will over a total land of 10 acres with a 60,00 sq-ft gambling space and a 187-room hotel.
Company chairman Jaydev Modi told reporters that the project, hailed as the country’s first world-class integrated resort and casino, is being tipped to open up new markets for the company, specifically in the neighboring region of Sikkim and nearby countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Delta Corporation’s business isn’t exclusive to its new integrated resort in Daman; the company is also looking into the Sri Lankan market with the hopes of setting up shop there in the future.
“We have already acquired property for the casino resort in Sri Lanka and the company is exploring the emerging Sri Lankan gaming market which his poised for rapid growth,” Modi said.
For now, though, the company’s full attention is devoted to the opening of its new resort and casino in Daman. If everything goes according to schedule, the resort will open early next year.
