The Asian Poker Tour has just concluded its Asian Series Cebu 2013 tournament and they’re already packing their bags again and are headed to another destination. Do these guys ever know the phrase “recharging your batteries”?
Give them credit, though, because they’ve been excellent ambassadors of the game throughout Asia and further proof of that is the next tournament on their calendar: the first ever APT Asian Series Jeju 2013.
Set to take place in the Korean island of Jeju, the tournament will kick off on February 27 and will run until March 6 at the Royal Palace Casino inside the Oriental Hotel. Despite being the inaugural APT tournament in the country, the Asian Series Jeju 2013 already has a sterling line-up of tournaments on the docket, headlined by the USD$1,100 Main Event and the PokerAce Super High Rollers and High Rollers events with buy-ins set at USD$10,600 and USD$2,500, respectively. In addition, there’ll also be eight side events and thirteen side events, including the APT staple Head Hunters event, as well as multiple Freezeouts, 6-Handed, and Deep Stack Turbos. Buy-ins for these tournaments range from USD $110 – USD$550.
Tom Dwan wins $1.8 million during recent hot streak
After initially struggling to get going since becoming a Full Tilt Poker Professional, Tom Dwan appears to have successfully weathered the storm and is now on the kind of hot streak we’ve come to expect from the man they call “durrr”. During a number of sessions on Full Tilt, Dwan managed to snag $1.3 million in profit and followed that up with another impressive run that saw him take home another $524,281.
This coming from the same guy that was wiped clean by Viktor “Isildur1” Blom when they engaged in another one of their Heads-Up Challenges. With this streak, it’s pretty safe to say now that Dwan has his poker groove back.
Patrik Antonius and Rui Cao engaged in $1 million Heads-Up Challenge
Speaking of Heads-Up Challenges, poker pros Patrik Antonius and Rui Cao are in the middle of their unofficial $1 Million Heads-Up Challenge over at Full Tilt Poker. The duel between the two is spread out between three different poker games, including a 2-7 Triple Draw match carrying a $300,000 buy-in; a pot-limit Ohama match with a $350,000 buy-in; and a no-limit Hold’Em match with another $350,000 entry price.
According to HighStakesDB.com, Cao already took down the 2-7 Triple Draw, dispatching of Antonius with relative ease after needing just three hours of play and only 350 hands to do it. Round 2 of this Heads-Up clash has yet to be played, although it certainly appears that Antonius has a lot of catching up to do to keep this duel with Cao from getting out of hand.
