Christmas is still a few months away, but a couple of online gambling sites are already feeling mighty generous these days.
For British sports book William Hill, as many as 700 of its employees who joined a three-year share-save plan are in line to receive a cut of a £3.5 million payout. The scheme, which William Hill has offered to its employees for the past 10 years, allows the latter to make monthly investments from anywhere between £5 and £250 per month for a time period of either three or 5 years. What this means is that employees who made the decision to invest £250 a month back in 2009 are now eligible to receive as much as £10,000 in addition to their original investment, which upon added, amounts to £9,000.
At the end of their plan, employees are given dibs to buy shares of William Hill at a 20% discounted price.
Speaking to HRMagazine, William Hill group HR director David Russell was quoted saying: “I am delighted that so many of our people are able to celebrate the success of the company in this way. This high return is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of William Hill people in driving up the share price. It really is a win – win for employees and shareholders.”
Needless to say, the impressive payout can be attributed to the success the company has had in growing its share price from July 2009 when it was priced at £1.83 all the way to earlier this week when it closed at a healthy price of £3.13.
Meanwhile, online poker room Americas Cardroom has also taken the step to reward one of its players with a pretty cool prize: a $50,000 car.
This should ring music to the ears of all the poker grinders at Americas Cardroom, who now have an opportunity to win a car of their choice as part of the poker room’s new Elite Benefits program, which now includes a sixth military rank: 5-Star General.
The new 5-Star General status is granted to all players who can earn 1 million Rank Points in a calendar year and for the first person to hit 3 million rank points before December 1, 2012, America’s Cardroom will give them a car. Plain and simple.
As quoted by Gambling911, Americas Cardroom spokesman Michael Harris said: “The first player who reaches 3 million Rank Points before December 1, 2012 can choose any car up to $50,000 and we’ll foot the bill. Anything with a value up to $50,000. It’s theirs.”
For those who miss out on the car give-away, reaching 5-Star General status still has its share of merits and benefits, including luxury packages to the Punta Cana Poker Classic and the Latin Series of Poker. Not too bad, but it’s still not a car…
