It’s being reported in various places that former Full Tilt Poker head of payment processing Nelson Burtnick has boarded a flight bound for the United States of America. The news was first broken by 2+2 member ..Diabhal.. who posted that Burtnick had left Dublin on a flight bound for US soil and would be arrested upon his arrival.
Talks are likely to have taken place between Burtnick and the US authorities following Ray Bitar, former CEO of FTP, who was arrested earlier this month after he voluntarily boarded a flight bound for North America. It also follows a superseding indictment being filed against the two in which there were fresh allegations as to the lengths the two went to conceal the company’s insolvency.
The news comes after a busy July for the DOJ’s actions against various Black Friday indictees. First Brent Beckley, the Absolute Poker founder/director of payment processing was handed a 14-month sentence before Ira Rubin, another payment processor, got banged up for three years. Judge Lewis Kaplan was particularly damning of Rubin who he said was an “unreformed con man and fraudster”.
Burtnick is one of the semi finalists in the fight to be the last man the DOJ gets its hands on. If it’s true that he’s on a flight bound for US shores it will mean that AP co-founder Scott Tom and the PokerStars pair of Isai Scheinberg and Paul Tate are the only three left at large. You get the impression the US is “showing it means business” and you feel it won’t be that long until they detain the other three.
