The European Poker Tour has rocked up in the Italian town of Campione for the first time with a local taking the opening day honors. Day 1a belonged to Davide Andreoni who built a stack of 175,100 to take a narrow lead over Nick Yunis (169,200) to day 2. 107 of the 178 that started the day made it through the eight levels and they’re expecting it to be a lot more rammed on day 1b for the €5,300 buy-in event.
Veronika Pavlikova took down this year’s France Poker Series Snowfest after besting a field of 296 players. The 18-year-old qualifier registered her first major victory and with it the €70,000 prize and trophy.
PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will get underway on May 6th. This year’s event is the fourth edition and includes 114 tournaments over three tiers of buy-ins. They range from a $5.50 re-buy event up to a $21,000 Heads Up High Roller. The final tournament is the Main Event, which starts on May 20th, and includes an $82 buy-in, $700 buy-in and $7,500 buy-in. Last year’s high buy-in Main Event gave winner Sami Kelopuro $500,000 and it’s likely to be a similar pot this time round.
A Scot reigned supreme Down Under as the latest leg of the ANZPT finished up in Sydney. Gordon Huntley beat the other 26 players that entered the final day’s play to take home a cool AUD$226,812 and leave his younger competitors in the dust. Second placed Liam O’Rourke never managed to get close to his rival and it took just half an hour from him to fall by the wayside.
