For some of us, it’s a little hard to focus on the holiday season with so much good football going on. We doubt that our Bodog insider had any time for last minute shopping, as he was glued to his screens and keeping tabs on the NFL action. We have some of his thoughts once again for you.

The old adage always goes that you have to take the season week by week. Tennessee should have stuck to that theory. “With the Titans potentially looking ahead to next week’s division winner-take-all vs Houston the vast majority of bettors backed the Saints at -3, pushing the handicap to -3.5 by kickoff,” our insider noted. “While the Titans jumped out to an early lead, the Saints dominated the 2nd half and punched in a late score to clinch the win and the cover, 38-28.”

Good Thing They’re Wearing Their Brown Pants

If my father taught me anything in life, it’s to never bet on Cleveland. Our source had lots to say about the sad sack team that is the Browns. “Cleveland started the season as AFC North favourites and a respectable 15/1 to win the Super Bowl,” he noted. “There was a sense that this time, this year would be different for the Browns. They even beat the Ravens back in September! And while they got off to a good start in this one, they ultimately couldn’t get out of their own way as penalties and defensive lapses gave the Ravens enough to cruise to a 31-15 victory.”

NFC Least

In possibly the least impressive division, it turned out to be the Dallas team that wanted to win least. “The Cowboys and Eagles, both 7-7, squared off with the Cowboys as slight road favourites in a season where both teams vastly underperformed preseason expectations,” our insider said. “Fortunately both teams play in the worst division in the NFL. The Eagles held on for a 17-9 victory and can clinch the division with a win next week at New York or with a Dallas loss.”

Do you Billieve?

Does a road loss after clinching their playoff spot mean anything at all? Maybe not, our source says. “The Buffalo Bills started the season with 4/1 odds just to make the playoffs and 100/1 to win the Super Bowl putting them among teams generally looking to the upcoming draft, not the postseason,” he noted. “The Bills are 10-5 and have sported one of the best defenses in the league this season – something that’s always at a premium come playoff time.”

Look Ahead

After getting fat and happy on a holiday feast, our insider is looking west for next week’s big match. The 49ers take on the Seahawks with the winner taking the NFC West and potentially the #1 overall seed in the NFC. The 49ers open as 1 point road favourites.”
