Front Runner Launch Free Sports Channel in the UK; WPT Footage Headlines

Front Runner has launched the first free-to-air dedicated sports channel in the UK and will show coverage of the current season of the World Poker Tour.

What movie has made you cry the most?

Front Runner Launch Free Sports Channel in the UK; WPT Footage HeadlinesMine was My Love, Don’t Cross That River, a 2013 South Korean documentary following the lives of an elderly couple who had lived together for over 70-years.

It was a touching love story, but what struck me more than anything was their minimalist lifestyle. They ate the very basic Korean food; they were mostly alone apart from occasional family visits, and they lived in a shack.

They didn’t own a bed, but they did own a TV, which was a strange thing to see until I read there are an estimated 1.59 billion homes in the world that do.

I have one.

But it’s never switched on.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Final Table begins on Sunday night. Millions of people will tune in to watch it. I won’t. I can’t afford the cable bill. And I won’t be alone.

I would never have found poker had it not been for the World Poker Tour (WPT), TV Show. I watched it at a time when anything and everything was possible thanks to my flexible friend.

TV viewing figures are dropping as more people consume their media via the Internet but it remains a critical gateway for poker, and so it is good to see Front Runner launch the UK’s very first free-to-air dedicated sports channel in the UK.

Front Runner is a Dedicated Sports Channel, And It’s Free

Found on Freeview Channel 91, Sky Channel 468, or FreeSat Channel 250, Front Runner showcases a wide variety of niche sports such as skateboarding, motocross, snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking and cage fighting.

But the main draw is their poker coverage, and they have turned to one of the best in the business.

From midnight Monday to Saturday and midday through to 18:00 Sunday, Front-Runner will show the current series of the WPT free of charge.

Posting on the UK’s popular Blonde Poker forum a representative said:

“We’re really excited to be bringing World Poker Tour to free-to-air UK TV. We know there’s a huge audience out there in the poker world, and we sure they’ll enjoy watching some of the best in the business.”

The same representative also promised more free poker coverage in the future.

Perfect for the cheapskates like me.

CBS Sports Network to Air The Final Table

From free-to-air poker to cost-you-an-arm-and-a-leg poker and CBS will air a new poker show called The Final Table starting October 30.

The new show is the brainchild of Rush Street Gaming, the company that brought you Poker Night in America, and covers live final tables that have taken place in casinos across the US.

Commentary comes from Maria Ho and David Tuchman. Joe Stapleton, Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari will provide the colour.

Here is the trailer.

The series consists of twenty-six one hour shows.
