Online sports betting exchange Matchbook has partnered with Raising for Effective Giving with all commissions gained from the Dan Bilzerian bike bet going towards the effective altruists.
Raising for Effective Giving (REG) continue to branch out into other areas of interest after inking a deal with the online sports betting exchange Matchbook.
Matchbook calls themselves the ‘fastest growing betting exchange’ in the business. REG is the fastest growing nonprofit in the poker industry. The two look like the perfect fit.
The first bit of business the pair will do together concerns the Dan Bilzerian Bike Bet. The man who used to eat Tour de France’s for fun, Lance Armstrong, is currently training the King of Instagram in a bid to win $600,000 from Bill Perkins if he can cycle the 278 mile trip from his home in LA to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign in 48-hrs or less.
A few weeks ago, that bet increased to $850,000 after Bilzerian accepted a side bet from Pamela Anderson’s former beau Rick Salomon. Under the terms of the side bet, Salomon would inherit Bilzerian’s G4 jet if he should die or suffer brain damage during the race. If Bilzerian makes the trip in the allotted time frame Salomon will pay him $250,000.
You can also get involved in the betting action courtesy of Matchbook. At the time of writing Bilzerian is a favourite to get the job done at 7/4, and 13/10 against. In honour of their new relationship Matchbook have promised to donate 100% of commissions on Bilzerian bets to the REG Charity.
REG’s Executive Director Ruairí Donnelly believes the two companies are alike in as much as they ‘are designed for the margin-minded individual.’ Matchbook’s Brand Manager, Danielle Desroches, believes their connection with REG will offer their punters ‘more than just a betting experience.’
The Bilzerian bet the first of many projects that the two intend to bring to the attention of their communities. REG recently expanded into the Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) market with DFS Charity, and the world of video games with the launch of Good Gamer. Expect more initiatives in the near future.
