The 2016 Aussie Millions schedule has been released with three additional events added to the roster.
Fans of koala bears, kangaroos and Shane Warne will be delighted to know that the schedule for the 2016 Aussie Millions has been released by Crown Melbourne.
The event will once again be held as part of the PokerStars.net Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT); the masterpiece will be the AU$10,600 Main Event, with the AU$25,000, AU$100,000 & $AU250,000 Challenge events also providing a lust for life.
The action will begin Wed, Jan 13 with an AU$1,150 No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE) event. The last event will take place on Mon, Feb 1 and that will be an AU$5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) event.
There will be 24 events sandwiched in between those two dates. That’s three more than last year. New additions are an AU$1,150 NLHE Six-Max, AU$2,500 NLHE and AU$1,150 Turbo No-Limit Hold’em Shot Clock. The only other change is a $1m guaranteed prize pool slapped on the side of event #1.
In 2015 Manny Stavropoulos defeated 648 played to capture the Main Event title, Alex Trevallion emerged from the online poker woodwork to lock up the AU$25,000 Challenge, Richard Yong flew into town on the back of illegal sports betting charges in Las Vegas to win the AU$100,000 Challenge, and who else but Phil Ivey won the AU$250,000 Challenge (his third victory in four years).
The AU$10,000 Aussie Millions Main Event is one of the true majors in the sport. The first time an AU$10,000 price tag was placed on the buy-in was 2003. Peter Costa won that event, and in the ensuing 12 years not one single American has taken home that title.
