Doyle Brunson, the Godfather of Poker, has recovered from his 12th major surgery, this time to have a melanoma removed, and is in good spirits recuperating at home.
Doyle Brunson, the Godfather of Poker, has emerged from successful surgery to remove a melanoma from his head, and the charm and humor is still in tact.
“Found out this big incision on my head is where @RealKidPoker paid the doc to try to extract some poker knowledge from my head. #Didn’twork.” Doyle tweeted.
And it was a big incision!
Just in case Twitter folks think it was just a scratch.#allclearbutOUCH pic.twitter.com/yo8Kuf981m

It was the beginning of February that Brunson advised his Twitter followers of his need to go back under the knife. It was his 12th major operation, and his third melanoma. What a fighter this man is.
At 81-years of age you have to take your hat off to the man. It’s this type of resilience and strength that has seen him become one of the most influential poker players in the history of the game.
“Back home and thankful Dad made it through surgery like a trooper,” his daughter Pamela wrote on Facebook, “Now he’s got a few more scars under his hat…He AMAZES me the way he handles himself. He is on the mend and so POSITIVE…he wanted to head home ASAP the next morning…and even offered to drive part of the way home! I’m SO PROUD of him.”
Perhaps the Godfather of Poker had a game he wanted to get back to?
“My head is sore and I can’t wear a hat. The wounds are healing but looks so bad I’m going to stay home for a few days. $$ Lost #nopoker.” Brunson tweeted.
