Tristan Wade wins the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Main Event, at the Palm Beach Kennel Club (PBKC), after defeating David Diaz in heads-up action.
The first Main Event of the 11th Season of WSOPC action is in the books and the WSOP bracelet holder, Tristan Wade, makes the headlines after defeating fellow WSOP bracelet holder David Diaz in heads-up action.
303 players bought in for $1,675 to create a prize pool of $454,500 and $106,806 of that now lies in the bank account of Wade after disposing of Diaz in a heads-up match up that lasted just 20 minutes.
Diaz would enter the final chapter with the chip lead, but a crucial pot where Wade turned a higher two pair than his opponent turned the tide, and Wade wouldn’t relinquish the lead from that point onwards. The final hand coming with JJ v KTdd seeing Wade turn a King to hand him the title.
“I’ve been waiting to win a tournament for a while,” Wade told the WSOP. “It’s in my backyard, so I got to have the family come support me. Mom got off work early and they were staying up late last night rooting for me and following the updates. It’s really nice to have my family here and be close to home. It’s always fun [to win a tournament].”
The final table was bursting with talent. No less than three former WSOP champions were seated at the table with Chance Kornuth joining Diaz and Wade with a seventh place finish; and Zo Karim and Will Souther also adding their touch of class.
The 29-year old Floridian has now won more than $1.2 million in live tournament earnings and this is his first significant cash since coming third in a $1.5K Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) event at the WSOP back in 2012.
Wade, who is also the Director of Poker Operations for WPT Deepstacks, was modest in his assessment of his own performance when he told the WSOP that anybody at the final table could have taken the gold ring such was the talent on display.
It was almost a moment of redemption for David Diaz. In 2013, the former WSOP champion was given a lifetime ban from all Harrah’s properties, after some unruly drunk and disorderly behavior, but the ban was lifted allowing him to play at this years WSOP.
Tristan Wade locks up his seat at the year-end WSOP National Championships and it looks like he will be joined by Kristopher Bradshaw who finished fourth at the final table to give him a sizeable lead in the Casino Championships with just one event remaining.
