We have four events to catch up on as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) consigns the 28th day of action to the history books.
First up, Event #45: $1,000 No Limit Hold’em (NLHE), and there are just 11-players left at the end of the second day of action with Angela Prada-Moed leading the charge with £304,634 up top in that one.
Prada-Moed finished fourth in the Ladies event, back in 2012, and she will be hoping to climb a few more rungs of the ladder as she searches for her first piece of WSOP gold.
It isn’t going to be easy though.
Loren Klein, was the runner-up in a Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) WSOP event back in 2010, and he has chips. Duy Ho finished fifth in a $1,500 Re-Entry event back in 2012, and Paul Solokoff finished third in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E event back in 2012.
Now that’s a field.
But keep an extra special eye on Will Givens. This is his fourth cash of the summer, and he recently came fourth in Event #33, which was another monster $1k field.
McNiff and Morgan Heads-Up for Event #44
After six hours of heads-up action, Evan McNiff and Jordan Morgan both threw in the towel and heading to their hotel rooms for a much needed few hours of sleep. The pair had been at it; hammer and tong, until they called it a day with Morgan holding a very slight chip lead: 4,445,000 – 4,170,000.
Jordan has two big six-figure scores to his name after triumphing in a WSOPC event back in 2007, and finishing second in a $10k United States Poker Championships in the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City back in 2006.
McNiff finished third in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Doyle Brunson Classic back in Season 7 for the biggest score of his career. The pair waged war against 1,914 players, and there is $478,102 up top, with both players guaranteed $295,727 no matter what happens.
Mercier Leading the Stars in the $50k PPC
55 players remain in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), and it’s the PokerStars Team Pro, Jason Mercier, who holds the lead with over 800,000 chips.
Jonathan Duhamel (783,000), Shaun Deeb (724,400) and David Steicke (711,100) are the other guys with big chip stacks, and the former champion Matt Ashton has exited stage left, meaning we will crown a new champion this year.
D’Angelo Leads the Ante-Only Event
The Ante-Only event has returned for the third year and 714 players showed up to prove the continued love for this type of event.
Ryan D’Angelo once again showing the world that a raw food diet can not only create a buzz inside his body, but it’s also creating a buzz in his game, as he ends the first day of action with the chip lead.
Anton Smirnov is the only other player to have a chip stack above 100k, but Dan Kelly, Manig Loeser and Max Silver have chips in that one.
At the time of writing there are about 50 players remaining.
