Asian Poker Tour 2014 Schedule

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is one of the most popular poker tours in the burgeoning Asia-Pacific region and the eighth outing is due to take place February 12 − 19 at the All In Poker Club, Lahug, Cebu, Philippines.

The event first burst onto the international stage when Tony G defeated a final table that included the likes of Grosvenor Poker Pro Jeff Kimber (5th) and Hans Vogl (7th) to take the $451,700 first prize at The Meritus Mandarin Hotel in Singapore.

Having a man like Tony G take the title was great news for the event that was sponsored by Betfair and managed by the Singapore based Capital Events Pte. The event still ranks as his third largest live tournament cash to date.

Since then the tour has been ostensibly held in the Philippines and Macau, although in more recent times Cebu and Goa have also been added to the tour.

Some of the highlights have seen Yevgeniy Timoshenko taking the 2008 APT Macau title for $500,000; BlackBelt Poker Pro Samad Razavi winning back-to-back APT Player of the Year awards with 8 APT titles over a two year timespan 2012-2013, and finally Damon Shulenberger setting a Guinness World Record for the longest ever live tournament when he won the APT RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge at Resorts World Manila, just before Christmas, in a non-stop 48hr. 55min marathon.

The 2014 tour will see stops in Cebu, Philippines and China and here are some of the finer details of those stops.

APT Asian Series Cebu

The first tour stop will be held at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Lahug, Cebu, Philippines, February 12 − 19, with all of the action coming from the All-In Poker Club.

There will be 14 side events with buy-ins ranging from PhP 3,000 ($66) to PhP 100,000 ($2,200); and a four day APT Asian Series Cebu Main Event which carries a PhP 46,000 ($1,000) buy-in.

Games vary with No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE), Mixed Games, Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), Ladies Event, High Roller, Turbo and Heads Up all on the schedule. There is also a wide range of live satellites for the main event.

The second installment of the APT remains in the Philippines but shifts its focus to Resorts World, Manila in Pasay City April 30 – May 7, before ending in Guangzhou, China, with the Asian Poker Tour China running June 18 − 25 at a yet unspecified venue.

Schedules have yet to be announced for the last two events.
