Danish Gambling Authority hands out first licences

denmark flagThe Danish Gambling Authority (DGA) announced today that the first raft of licences have been handed out ahead of the gaming industry market opening on January 1, 2012. 48 licences were given to 31 different companies with an additional seven Danish companies granted one of the income-restricted licences aimed at assisting local firms.

At a press conference announcing the licences, Thor Möger Pedersen, minister for taxation said: “From January the gambling market will be orderly and we will ensure that holders of a betting and online casino licence to operate on the Danish market also contribute to the society. Danes as well as the many associations supported by the gambling market can be joyful.”

Firms to be given licences include 888, Betfair, Bet365, Ladbrokes, PokerStars and Unibet. The full list of licensees, along with which licenses they applied for (B: Betting, C: Casino) is as follows:
