Following the resignation of Nicolas Béraud, BetClic Everest Group has appointed Ignicio Martos to head honcho. Ignicio Martos was CEO of online travel agency website Opodo.
BetClic Everest said that under Béraud, the company had successfully developed its range of sports betting and online gaming offerings.
Béraud had been CEO of BetClic Everest since March 2010 and no reason has been given for his departure, and likely, as a show of appreciation for his efforts, the company has invited him to join the company’s board.
The departing Béraud said in the news release,“I will remember what a pleasure it has been in the last six years to experience an adventure that was so out of the ordinary, in the company of enthusiastic and innovative staff, and in a sector where everything was yet to be created…I am grateful to the Board of Directors for its trust in me.”.
Martos seemed excited about the new opportunity, saying in the news release, “I chose to join BetClic Everest Group because I am now convinced that in the context of the market in Europe opening up, this sector has major potential to be attractive and to grow…The internet has already revolutionised our way of life and our behaviour as consumers, and there is a genuine opportunity to be taken to expand the range of leisure products and satisfy the passions of internet users, both for sport and poker.”
Béraud takes the reigns during a trying time when a declining economic environment and the high tax rate for online gaming in France could hamper year’s financial results.
