The hit series HBO Boardwalk Empire did more than just entertain fans with stories of Atlantic City’s past glory, but it helped to rebuild that nostalgic feeling that used to always surround the former United States gambling mecca.
Fans of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire have a new reason to go to Atlantic City. If not to gamble, then fans can still flock to AC to at least to take Facebook profile photos of themselves posing in front of the newly unveiled Boardwalk Empire facade on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
It must be a little disheartening when a TV show is more popular than the gambling destination for which the TV show is about.
AC is trying to change all of that.
Yesterday, officials unveiled a 180 ft long façade in front of the West Hall of Boardwalk Hall which is a re-creation of some of the magnificent sets from the TV series. For the first time in a long time, Atlantic City may walking down the cool path again and it has HBO and the Boardwalk Empire to thank for it.
The decline in the popularity of Atlantic City isn’t a secret, it’s been well documented, and there are projections that other gambling hot spots will continue to surpass AC in the near future.
AC needs to get the younger generations interested again, Boardwalk Empire served to remind everyone just how amazing and epic the town once was, and with this newly unveiled facade, city officials are certainly trying to harness that magic that once made Atlantic City America’s favourite sin-by-the-sea destination.
