Ever heard of Alex Lambert? Off the top of my head, neither have I. But if you follow American Idol and remember the losers then you’ll know exactly who Alex Lambert is, he’s one of the guys who didn’t win last year. Apparently now, he’s also homeless.
Somehow, a guy who I can’t remember one song by, has a Twitter account with thousands of followers. So what happens when reality sets in after reality television? Well, you get a tweet from Alex Lambert that goes something like this:
“I’ve been kinda homeless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings. I have a choice to stay and pursue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I’m usually a strong person but I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!”
Truth be told, he’s not really homeless, he just doesn’t have a record deal, as if that was given for any contestant on American Idol.
The fact that his tweets actually caused a minor stir on the net got me thinking. The man wasn’t a celebrity because he somewhat talented, he’s a celebrity only because he was on American Idol.
What if the Gaming industry had it’s own hit reality show?
I know we already have the World Series of Poker, and several other poker shows, but I’m talking about the next level. What about Blackjack allstars? Put the best blackjack players in the world in one room and have them go head to head against the best dealers. No? How about the Next Top Poker Player? You can put a bunch of talented online and offline poker players in a house and have them compete to see who is the last man standing. The drama might be lacking, especially at night when most of them have multiple computer screens up playing on line poker, but it could catch on.
People already love watching and betting on reality TV shows, and the World Series of Poker and they’d probably love watching and betting on a gambling reality TV show. Just throwing it out there, if you use this idea just throw me back a producer credit and we’ll call it square.
