Asian Poker Series stops in Cebu in 2011

Sinulog Festival

The Asian Poker Series will be in full swing once again in 2011, this time, the first stop on the list is Cebu.

The timing couldn’t be better to make a pit stop in Cebu. The Sinulog Festival will serve as the perfect backdrop for the packed APT Asian Series Cebu Schedule.

The poker festivities kick off on 10 January 2011 at Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Lahug, Philippines and the party won’t stop until 17 January 2011. Make no mistake, the entire time the whole city will be on fire for the Sinulog Festival, and with the Asian Poker Series in town at the same time, Cebu will officially be popping off.

The Sinulog Festival features a street parade with participants in bright colored costumes dancing to the rhythm of drums, trumpets and native gongs. The celebration lasts for nine days, culminating on the final day with the Sinulog Grand Parade. The day before the parade, the Fluvial Procession is held at dawn with a statue of the Santo Niño carried on a pump boat from Mandaue City to Cebu City, decked with hundreds of flowers and candles.

It certainly will be quite the event as pop music events and other activities are also scheduled for the week-long festivities.  Hopefully the poker players at the Asian Poker Series won’t get too distracted and end up as part of the dancing parade, the rhythm, the happy people, the booze the girls, it can and does catch you slipping and can carry you away in a parade of bliss, anyone who’s partied in the Philippines knows this.

Regardless, there’s every reason in the world to make this an event you don’t miss, whether your in it for the cards or everything else.
