Arsenal and Chelsea back in Champions League action tonight

arsenal-chelsea-champions-leagueIf last night’s Champions League action is anything to go by there’ll have to be a full scale riot by the players themselves to better it. This is all after Gareth Bale was accused of killing his opponent Maicon in an unprovoked incident and then tested positive for drugs after his manager dobbed him in during a newspaper interview. Well maybe some if not all of that is a fabrication, but the Champions League does indeed roll on tonight with yet more action.

Arsene Wenger takes his Arsenal side to the murky depths of Eastern Ukraine to face Shakhtar Donetsk. Already without star players Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie, it will be a minor miracle if they come away with no injuries in the East. Theo Walcott suffering frostbite is a distinct possibility that will be the least of Wenger’s worries though. A side as soft as Arsenal’s will surely be more than a bit susceptible to the Chernobyl fall-out.

Chelsea, meanwhile, welcome Russian side Spartak Moscow to the Bridge in what should be straightforward enough for them. That’s unless owner Roman Abramovich gets involved trying to buy up lavish Russian talent Chelsea don’t need. Leave it until January Roman. Please!

The return tie between AC Milan and Real Madrid also takes place tonight. Cristiano Ronaldo is in blistering form and it would be quite the statement were the Italians to hold the slick haired pouter to only the four goals.
