Stan James throws horse racing a lifeline

What is stepping up? Stepping up is taking the reigns, it’s putting your name forward, it’s being a leader and it’s exactly what the horse racing needs someone to do, in steps Stan James.

The Gibraltar based online gaming operator Stan James has just thrown the horse racing industry a much needed lifeline in the form of a five year sponsorship deal. Stan James inked a five year sponsorship deal with the Cheltam Racecourse to sponsor four major two-mile horse racing events including the Cheltenham Festival’s Champion Hurdle.

The deal includes The Grade 1 Stan James Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March, the Grade 1 StanJames.com Fighting Fifth at Newcastle in November, the Grade 2 StanJames.com International at Cheltenham in December, and the Grade 2 StanJames.com Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock Park in January.

This sponsorship is exactly the type of lifeline the horse-racing industry needs to survive and more importantly, grow. The Chief Executive of Stan James Denis Kelly, stated,

“We have always looked to support racing through key events and high-profile sponsorships so we are delighted to be backing The Stan James Champion Hurdle, the biggest and most valuable hurdle race of the entire season…We share the goal of the industry, through Racing For Change, to bring racing back into the public’s line of vision and I hope that our sponsorship of three of the races on ‘The Road to Cheltenham’, including major races at Newcastle and Haydock Park, will help to achieve that aim.
