Action Packed Betting Weekend

This weekend is sure to be an action packed betting weekend for North American online sportsbooks. Here are just some of the many events going down.

It’s pennant race madness in the MLB. The Rays and the Yankees are neck and neck in the standings but the Rays may have the edge as they have a more favorable schedule down the home stretch. As for the Yankees, they’ll be playing their former rivals, I say former, because the Red Sox aren’t in the hunt anymore. But nothing would please Red Sox more than tripping up the Bronx Bombers this weekend and costing them the division title. Meanwhile, the Rays will definitely be looking to sweep the lowly Mariners.

In the National League it’s tighter than virgin on prom night. The Giants lead the NL West by half a game on the Padres, but they’ll be tested this weekend by the Colorado Rockies who sit just 3.5 games out of the division and the Wild Card but can make up huge ground perhaps in both with a series win. That’s exactly what the Padres will be hoping for, as they take on the Reds. The Padres need the Giants to drop some games and they’ll need to find a way to shut down the hot hitting Reds. The Wild Card is still up for grabs, Atlanta dropped 3 straight to white hot Phillies and they’ll need to snap the Nationals winning ways if they want their taste of the post season. It’s a clusterfuck at the top, but it could all be sorted out this weekend.

On Saturday, aside from the huge college football games going down all day, UFC 119 will also jump off Saturday night. The main even is a heavyweight battle between Frank Mir and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
Mir is already a heavy favorite at -295. The former UFC Heavyweight champion is ranked sixth in the world by Sherdog and should give Cro Cop a good tussle. The American Mir has a 13-5 record throughout his career, with 8 victories coming via submission, including that quasi fluke win over Brock Lesnar.

Last but not least NFL Sunday caps off a powerhouse betting weekend. Some of the big games that I’ll definitely be tuning into watch and bet on along with thousands of other gamblers is the Eagles vs the Jaguars and Michael Vick’s official debut after being named starter for the rest of the season. The Steelers and the surprising Buccaneers should also be a good one and a good test to see if the Bucs are for real. The Falcons head into the Who Dat state to face the Saints and the Jets take on the upstart Dolphins. I’ll be keeping my eye on those games, but everyone will be watching the Monday Nighter which puts the cherry on top of a super betting weekend. The Bears face the Packers, this should be a great game, as we’ll all get to see just how legit the Superbowl predictions for the Packers really are.
