Thai authorities were certainly rather busy over the World Cup month, their team not taking part meaning they had even more time on their hands to catch gamblers/think up rather outlandish stories.
Then it may come as no surprise at the suggestion that they’ve caught children as young as seven gambling on football matches. The news was given by Thanakorn Komkris of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, who said: “During the World Cup, police found children as young as 7 gambling.” Who knows whether they were among the 1,700 illegal gamblers arrested, but you can’t help but think they’ve put some gloss on the youthful nature of the hustlers involved.
