It’s that time of year again. The sun is shining, the covers are off and tennis fans are readying themselves for the dulcit, vuvuzela-free hush of Wimbledon. Not really sure how we’re expected to cram in Wimbledon watching in the midst of the World Cup but then with Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic (pictured) and Daniela Hantuchova all on show, it’s a challenge it would be wrong to ignore.
On the ladies side the Williams sisters have been represented in all but one of the last ten finals, which is why they head the betting, while 98-time champion Roger Federer is favourite for the men. The unflappable World No2 is a sporting God but the in-form Rafael Nadal’s 5/2 looks mighty attractive. Not quite as attractive as the returning Anna Kournikova, mind you. Happy days.
