Poker might not be something you usually associate with Scotland but a tournament is aiming to change that. Edinburgh’s Gala Maybury Casino plays host to the Scottish Poker Championships from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th October. The best part, apart from the fact that the Scots love a drink, is that it’s the biggest poker tournament in Scotland this year – fact.
The main event, getting underway on the Saturday, takes the form of a $500+50 NLHE freeze-out. The winner of this gets a lifetime supply of Carlsberg Special Brew and a hearty selection of haggis thrown in for good measure. Of course by that we mean a share of the £100,000 prize pool that is on offer.
