Top U.K. gambling operators GVC, William Hill, and Flutter Entertainment failed to attend their meeting with Members of Parliament due to last minute commitments. First to back out was GVC due to “business commitments,” followed by last minute withdrawals from William Hill and Flutter. MP Carolyn Harris did not buy the firms' excuses, accusing the business leaders of shirking their responsibilities to the state. “These are men who run companies that feed addiction, amass vast profits from the vulnerable and take home huge pay packets, yet they are too afraid to appear before MPs,” she said.
