Kindred Group subsidiary Platinum Gaming Ltd (PGL) had agreed to return over £629k to the victims of one of its customers plus over £990k in penalties to the UK Gambling Commission. The said customer, who was convicted for stealing £2m, lost much of the money to several gambling operators like the PGL. The results of the UKGC’s investigation showed that the customer made “large deposits” and incurred “significant losses in a very short period of time.” The UKGC also found negligence on PGL’s part after it failed to conduct the necessary due diligence on the source of the customer’s funds.
