In its quarterly report with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, MGM said that it is “reasonably possible” for them to reach a settlement with the victims of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. The settlement will set back the casino operator between $753m to $800m, although MGM noted that its insurance can cover as much as $751m for the settlement. On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd on the Las Vegas Strip while booked in MGM’s Mandalay Bay resort, killing 58 people.
