The Story

UK’s national lottery operator Camelot was slapped with a £1.15m fine in connection with the company’s multiple “sufficiently serious” failings.

Camelot’s woes started with a wonky app.

The UK Gambling Commission announced the results of its years-long probe on the lottery operator, starting in 2016 when the company released a mobile app that incorrectly informed players that their winning tickets were losers. Other slip-ups found include the online publication of incomplete Lotto results, direct debit instruction failure in May 2016, and breaches in both security measures and Post Office control. This marks the fourth time that Camelot was fined since 2014.
