The Story

The Polish government has abandoned its plan to make a registry of domains of banned online gambling operators, but this is not a cause for celebration for international online gambling sites.

The proposal was met with vehement opposition when it was first announced.

Poland’s Ministry of Digitization announced that they shelved their plan to have a central registry of prohibited domains after discovering that “proposals for possible blocking of some parties were not accepted.” While the plan for the central registry did not push through, the blacklist against international online gambling operators like Bet365 and Bet-at-home was not lifted. In fact, since the government imposed its protectionist measures, Bet365’s Polish traffic took a 97.4% hit while Bet-at-home suffered an 87.8% decline.
