No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself,
or to get all the credit for doing it.

The Story

In an expected turn of events, the country’s ruling government coalition voted for a suspensory veto of the online sports betting bill which earlier passed through the National Assembly.

The chances of getting the bill approved are slim.

In an 18-12 vote, the National Council voted to veto the measure which would have ended the state-owned Športna Loterija’s sports betting monopoly and allow European Economic Community-licensed operators to apply for online sports betting licenses. There is still hope, however, as the National Assembly can pass the bill through a 2/3 vote during the second round. But if the 35-36 vote during the first round is any indication, it will be a stretch for the proponents of the bill to get the needed votes to overturn the National Council’s veto.
