The Story

GVC Holdings will acquire 51% of Georgian gambling group Crystalbet for €41 million (US$50.84 million) in cash as it expands to a new market.

The Crystalbet takeover will be complete by 2021.

The Isle of Man-based company described Crystalbet as a leading gaming operator with licenses to offer sports betting, casino games, poker, and peer-to-peer games. The remaining 49% will be bought by GVC in 2021 for €150 million.

Following the acquisition, GVC plans to boost Crystalbet's portfolio of gaming content, digital marketing capabilities, and purchasing power to the Georgian market. GVC earlier disposed its Turkish-facing business in November in the hopes of acquiring rival Ladbrokes Coral.
