The Story

A former Macau casino employee who stole nearly HKD 5.5m (US $705k) in cash and casino chips in 2016 has been arrested by authorities.

Give me more details about the arrest.

Guangdong Public Security Department had identified and apprehended the alleged thief in Zhongshan City on October 2. He was later transferred to the custody of Macau police where a further investigation will be conducted.

How was this employee the employee pull off the heist?

The theft was reportedly carried out by a casino employee used the key to the casino's cage to get the cash and chips.

So I assume the money was found, right?

Nope. That's what the police meant of "further investigation." The man is expected to be face the appropriately named charge of “abuse of trust (massive amount).”

Takeaway

This alleged embezzlement is just one of the many internal theft incidents that happened in Macau in recent years. The only consolation here is that no matter how hard these troublemakers try to run, the long hand of justice have always caught them.
