  Charges are coming

The Story

Officials of the Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. will be facing criminal charges following the deadly attack at the Resorts World Manila last month that left 38 people dead.

Philippine authorities are leading the filing of charges.

A Manila Times report said that the Philippine National Police is expected to file charges of negligence resulting in multiple homicides against the RWM management. PNP National Capital Region Director Oscar Albayde said that three of the victims' relatives support their lawsuit against the casino operator.

The police are saying that they have a "strong case" against RWM.

Albayde is confident of their case against RWM, especially after the casino security forces admitted that they abandoned monitoring of a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera of the complex while Jessie Carlos was wreaking havoc on the property.

RWM will also face a class suit.

Public Attorney's Office Chief Atty. Persida Acosta said that the casino operator only gave less than half of the amount of the compensation that they have computed. The RWM management previously gave P1 million each to families of the 37 victims and paid for the hospitalization of some 67 injured individuals.

Takeaway

The casino operator has to brace itself for the deluge of charges as victims of the tragedy continue to seek justice and reparation.
