The luck o’ de Oirish was all too plain to see at the conclusion of the paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open in Dublin yesterday. Local youngster Niall Smyth emerged the winner at the Burlington Hotel, the green-clad hustler taking home the purse of €550,000 after overcoming the field of 615. That wasn’t all though. Smyth also took home an extra €100,000 for being the last Sole Survivor standing in the competition and it rounds off a remarkable couple of weeks for Smyth. The Irishman beat out heads-up competition from English veteran Surinder Sunar who took home €290,000 himself.
After the victory Smyth commented: “Unbelievable. I just can’t believe it.
“It started when I put €10 each way on the winner of the English Grand National, I won €200 euro and now I have €650,000. Surinder is such a great player, my support has been fantastic, and here I am!”
In other poker news, PKR has made London’s Fox Poker Club the first to be fully recreated on their website. The only dedicated poker venue in the centre of the iGaming universe will be fully replicated in 3D for users of PKR.com and is the first time the site has accurately mapped a real-life club.
Chris North, Managing Director of Fox Poker Club, said,“I’m absolutely thrilled with how the 3D poker room looks and just how similar it is to the real thing. The whole team at the Fox Poker Club sees it as a flattering addition to the site – our members can now ‘visit’ the club without leaving their computer screen, and we’re hoping that a few more players on PKR.com are impressed with what they see and pop down for a game very soon.”
Anyone using PKR will be able to access the full 6,500 square foot of the club. You’ll find us by the bar!
