Gambling revenue in the Chinese gambling enclave of Macau continued to climb in February as visitors continued to drive the country’s gambling industry.
Revenue from gambling in the former Portuguese colony saw a rise of 48% last month compared to the same period in 2010, as the country shows no ill effects of relying entirely on the gambling industry.
February’s figure in itself was a record as revenue rose to 19.86billion Macau patacas during the month breaking the previous high set in December 2010 when it hit 18.88billion patacas.
The reason for such a rise is thought to be visitors from Mainland China who have been flocking to Macau in their droves.
