He’s just 20 years old and he’s pulled off one of the most improbable results in Daytona 500 history. In just his second Sprint Cup start, Trevor Bayne became the youngest man to win the Daytona 500. It’s an amazing accomplishment for the kid who beat out the best of the best to win the Great American Race.
What were the odds that a 20-year-old kid from Knoxville Tennessee would beat out the likes of Earnhardt Jr., Busch, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and all of the other legends? If you were thinking impossible, you were pretty damn close.
SBGGlobal.com sportsbook had Bayne’s odds to win the Daytona 500 at 80/1. So his gambling auntie, or his best friends in Knoxville that may have placed wagers are laughing all the way to the bank right now. If they bet on their boy that is, but at 80/1 not sure even family is taking those chances.
Maybe this is a sign of things to come for NASCAR and the Sprint Cup, because frankly, with Jimmie Johnson absolutely dominating it for the past five years, something needs to happen to shake things up.
