GTECH Holdings Corporation announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, GTECH Corporation, has signed a eight-year contract extension with Loterie Nationale of Luxembourg. The deal is expected to generate revenues of approximately €40m for GTECH over the contract term and includes an option to extend the contract for an additional five years.
Under the agreement, GTECH will provide Loterie Nationale with a full range of solutions including a new online/instants lottery system and terminals, self-service vending machines, a digital multimedia system, new games, and player/ongoing services.
GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B Patel commented on the agreement, “GTECH is committed to retaining its customers. Loterie Nationale has been a valued GTECH customer since 2001 when we first brought their instant games online,”
Under the contract terms, GTECH will implement the company’s Enterprise Series solution to support online and instant games. GTECH’s Business Intelligence system offering will enhance Loterie Nationale’s back office, inventory management, and reporting systems, while the company will also replace the online terminal base with 450 Altura GT1200 terminals. The new ES system and terminals will also allow sports betting games to be offered to players.
Even though the process was highly competitive, GTECH emerged victorious. “We were extremely impressed with the proposal put forth by GTECH,” said Loterie Nationale director Léon Losch. “From a technology point-of-view, the new system will well enable us to grow our revenue in a fully responsible way through all available channels. Moreover, GTECH has demonstrated a low risk migration strategy that will protect our revenues and reputation during the conversion process to the new system.”
GTECH will also provide ongoing services to Loterie Nationale including installation and maintenance of the central system and terminals; maintenance of the communications network and interactive gaming platform; and field service.
