why-partygaming-being-suedWhichever industry it might be, when stories start to develop you get more twists and turns than an evenly matched boxing match. In the end though, when it comes to the gambling industry someone has to take home the championship belt. PartyGaming may be about to find this out at some point in the near future.

The spouse in the soon-to-be world’s largest publicly traded gaming company is currently subject to a legal action by US company WMS Industries for breach of copyright. It all comes back to Party’s use of two of the company’s trademarks, “Jackpot Party” and “Super Jackpot Party,” for which they’re seeking around $287million or more. Although, they aren’t just suing for the sake of it. Oh, no!

WMS’s UK casino gaming arm, WMS Gaming, yesterday announced the launch of their very own site for the UK market, entitled JackpotParty.com. The site is registered in Alderney and offers players proprietary online slots, roulette, instant games, blackjack, video poker, and card and table games.

WMS’ VP of online gaming, Richard Schwartz, said: “WMS has developed many of the most successful slot games in land-based casinos and we’re thrilled that UK players are the first in the world to experience these authentic and proven games online.”

Now we know the reason behind them suing Party it might be interesting to see what the multi-national public gaming group’s next move is. WMS meanwhile have already been predicted to have a stellar 2011 as far as stock and shares go. The extra sum of money they receive, however large, will only strengthen their position further.
