As if it wasn’t enough for him to tear out the hearts of Cleveland Cavs fans with a blunt spoon with his hour long TV special, now Lebron is pouring salt into their wounds by saying publicly that he’s always hated many Clevelanders. His comments were made in GQ magazine, where according to Lebron, he’s always hated Clevelanders, because they used to stick their noses up at him when he was younger.
Wait a minute, is Lebron talking about when he was in highschool and ESPN was covering his basketball games and the entire world and state of Ohio was annointing him as King James? Exactly when did anyone ever stick their noses up at Lebron James in Ohio? Well, if he hates them, he can be sure the feeling is more than mutual.
At this point it’s safe to say, Lebron has decided to shun the highroad and let his play do the talking, and has instead elected to run his mouth. All I can say is he better be in the gym right now, working on his jumpshot and every other facet of his game, because his mouth and his actions are putting the biggest bullseye on the Miami Heat anyone has ever seen. He’s already upset the greats of the game, Charles Barkley has now openly criticized Lebron by calling out all his “punk moves”.
Lebron told GQ that the Cleveland fans were “spoiled” by his play…I’m not sure what he meant by that, considering he never actually won a championship in Cleveland. Yeah, Lebron, you sure spoiled them rotten. Maybe he’s talking about all his dancing and singing on the sidelines.
Don’t get me wrong, the guy is talented as hell, his back-to-back MVP’s speak to that, but no man should be talking as much, and making as much noise as Lebron is, without having a championship ring on his finger, that’s just the rules. Usually, guys wait till they win first before they start addressing their enemies, so like I said, he better be in the gym right now, because if he doesn’t win next season, all hell is going to break lose.
At the same time, I have to admit, there’s a part of me that kind of likes Lebron’s bad attitude. There’s a part of me that likes the fact that he consistently speaks about himself in third person, there’s a part of me that likes the fact that he’s made the NBA his playground and big part of me loves the fact that he’s a player that can’t be pushed around by an owner. At the end of the day, his MVP awards can’t be questioned, nor can the fact that he lead Cleveland to have one of the best records in the league two years in a row.
But now there’s no more excuses, he’s said too much, done too much, and he’s become too much of a big deal, so he’d better win or become the biggest mouthpiece and sideshow the NBA and maybe sports has ever seen.
I wonder what the odds are that Lebron James wins the NBA MVP award next year…His Heat are already favored to win the championship, but then again, so were the Cavs last year.
