Farah holds huge chip lead; Ramdin the short stack
After four days of mouth-watering poker action, the WPT Borgata Poker Open has reached its final table, with Dave Farah leading the six players into battle.
All the headlines after Day 3 were surrounding Vanessa Selbst’s return to the felt, her poker sojourn having been ended by the value and huge guarantee on offer in Borgata, as well as the nearby location.
WSOP bracelet winner and reigning ‘Big 50’ champion Femi Fashakin bowed out early for just $21,784, and he was joined on the rail by Selbst after she was eliminated in 14th place for $39,350 when her ace-jack couldn’t catch Victor Ramdin’s ace-king.
If Ramdin was on the march, then so too was the man who would eventually become the overnight leader going into the final. Dave Farah started second in chips but soon motored into the lead and kept his pedal to the metal all evening, bagging up a massive 14,325,000 chips at the end of the day, over 5.5 million more than anyone else.
While Farah has a commanding lead, others scrapped their way into contention, with Uke Dauti Farah’s closest challenger on 8,725,000 chips, marginally ahead of Kevin Albers with 7,975,000.
While Ramdin is short stacked on just 3,575,000, he still has a highly playable stack and Farah’s lead may be strong, but he is still, as always seems to be the way in no limit hold’em, just a couple of all-in pots from losing all of his chips.
With five more players to bust before then winner’s name is carved onto the WPT Champions Cup, there’s a lot of work for every player to do, and the commentary team of Tony Dunst and Vince van Patten will have plenty of fun describing the action as the cards come down and another players joins the Champions Club.
