Greg Behr: iGaming is on the edge of development all the time

In this interview with CalvinAyre.com’s Becky Liggero, Greg Behr, senior business development manager of Leaseweb, talks about his company’s venture into the iGaming industry.

The iGaming industry is constantly evolving as new technologies are developed. In the past, players had to go to land-based casinos just to place their bets or play their favorite games. However, the internet paved the way for the introduction of new gambling technologies that mean people can now enjoy a game of poker anywhere in the world.

Greg Behr, senior business development manager of Leaseweb, says the iGaming industry continuously changes—from the tools used for gambling to the infrastructure that the industry utilizes. This is the major factor why Leaseweb put aside the lucrative global housing business to focus on the online gambling industry, according to Behr.

“First of all, it is a very interesting industry. It’s very tech savvy. It’s on the edge of development all the time. We basically provide all the infrastructure that the iGaming industry uses. It is a vertical that is vibrant and is developing all the time, and we just want to develop with it. Basically we do everything that facilitates their needs.”

Behr told CalvinAyre.com that Leaseweb also has a burgeoning relationship with eSports outfit ESL. “We facilitate the infrastructure for their games. They do tournaments globally and we provide infrastructure for their games to host them.”

Currently, Behr said his company has 18 data centers globally in order to efficiently address the needs and requirements of their clients. He also described Leaseweb as a very “personal company” because people may actually call and talk to them instead of chatting with a customer representative online.

“People can actually call us and then we will get an account manager on the phone or somebody from the first line support. They can discuss their needs and requirements. Just get it done over the phone, instead of having a ticket,” Behr said. “We really are personal company. That set us apart as well.”

Behr also shared his company’s relationship with world renowned DJ Hardwell. Leaseweb and Hardwell collaborated to do a virtual, 360-degree livestream of the DJ’s gigs at music festivals.

“Basically, he wants to have a virtual 360 livestream from Miami. There’s Ultra, which is one of the largest music festivals in the world. What he wants to do is to facilitate to all of his fans, to be in their chair, with a goggle, virtual reality, and be able to be there, almost physically,” he said.
