Tennis legend Boris Becker and World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Jan-Peter Jachtmann, have joined partypoker as their newest ambassadors.
Sometimes in life, you have to play second fiddle. My wife recently had a baby. I didn’t sleep for four days. I kept my mouth shut. I played second fiddle.
Then there are times you want the fiddle. You want all of the cameras pointing in your face. You want people to talk about you. You want to be the star.
Like when you sign a deal with one of the largest online poker rooms in the world.
That’s a first fiddle moment if I have ever seen one.
Partypoker has agreed to terms with Boris Becker. The tennis legend will represent the online poker room both online and live. In celebration of the signing, the online poker room will host a promotion called Beat The Ace.
The promotion, beginning on 5th Dec, gives partypoker players the opportunity the compete in four $5,000 Freerolls with the winner earning the chance to play heads-up against Boris Becker, live in Germany, for the chance to win $25,000.
Partypoker also confirmed plans to host partypoker MILLIONS in Dusk till Dawn (DTD), April 2017. The event will feature a £6m guaranteed prize pool – the highest in Europe – with £1m going to the winner. You can qualify online if you have a spare $550 burning a hole in your pocket.
Becker is the second sports star to help promote the partypoker brand after the former boxing world champion, Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch, joined in Nov 2015. When that signing was made partypoker redesigned their entire tournament structure, giving it a boxing theme. Does the signing of Becker mean a tennis theme is in the upload queue?
It’s not the first time Becker has been the face of an online poker room. The youngest ever Wimbledon male winner signed for PokerStars in 2007 and represented the Red Spade until the likes of Rafael Nadal turned up on the scene.
Boris Becker doesn’t play second fiddle to anyone.
One man who has had to settle for second fiddle, in this case, is Jan-Peter Jachtmann. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner joined the partypoker secret Santa group at the same time as his compatriot, and that was never going to bode well for his moment in the spotlight.
