888poker has released their schedule for the forthcoming Super XL Series in September. There will be $4m in guaranteed prize money, spread over 40 tournaments: Main, Mini, and Turbo, culminating in a $1.5m guaranteed $1,050 buy-in Main Event.
We all have that feeling from time to time.
You know that the shopkeeper has given you the change of a £20 instead of £10, and you are figuring out what to do next?
If life is smooth, then you give the money back.
If life is difficult, then you stop, think, and consider going to war with karma.
The attraction towards easy money is within all of us. It’s our genetic disposition towards the path of least resistance. And for me, there is no bigger pull towards a windfall that an online tournament festival provides. Now, I’m not saying winning an online tournament containing thousands of players is easy, but you can earn the equivalent of your annual salary in a single night’s work, and that’s the shiny lure for me.
So you should be delighted to hear that 888Poker has busted out the schedule for the Super XL Series VI. The festival takes place Sep 17-25, right in the midst of their competitors largest festivals, making September the busiest month of the calendar year for the online poker player.
The hosts believe it’s going to be a humdinger and are willing to put their money where their thoughts are. 888Poker are offering $4m in guaranteed prize money, $1m more than the last festival held in the springtime, and the $1,050 buy-in Main Event will have a $1.5m guarantee for the first time.
There will be 40 different events spanning three different modalities: Main, Mini and Turbo. The festival begins with a Crazy 8 Super XL Kickoff event containing the same structure as the $888 buy-in Crazy Eights 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em World Series of Poker (WSOP) event. You may remember that a nail salon owner who only played poker for a bit of fun won the $888,888 first prize, proof positive that anyone can win if the cards connect with your heart.
The festival high point is the Main Event, but there are some other diamonds in the not so rough.
Tuesday, 20 Sep is the date for the High Rollers with $2,100, $215 and $160 buy-ins available across all three formats. The $2,100 event carries a whopping $500,000 guarantee.
Sunday, 25 Sep is the final date of the festival, and the Main Events will be out in force. The $1,050, $1.5m guaranteed Main Event steals the show but there will four more Main Events with buy-ins ranging between $5 and $160 in Micro, Mini, Turbo and Super Turbo formats.
The series will see 888Poker Ambassadors Chris Moorman, Dominik Nitsche, Bruno Politano, Bruno Kawauti, Sofia Lovgren, Kara Scott, and Akira Ohyama flock to the tables. Nitsche won the Mini Main Event during the Super XL Series V festival for $36,541. “Gr33nApples” won the $1,050 Main Event for $183,869.
