The 2016/17 World Series of Poker Circuit schedule hopes to expand its international presence with 13 planned stops outside of the US, the greatest number in the tour’s history.
For 11-years the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) was instrumental in spreading the gospel of the largest festival in the world by dropping anchor in all corners of America, offering buy-ins ranging from $365 – $1,675.
Something changed during the 12th season. Nobody likes changed. It seems this one, however, worked out quite nicely. WSOP officials decided that it wasn’t much of a World Series of Poker Circuit festival if it never visited the World.
The tour had a makeover. They included five international stops in Marrakech, Montreal, Campione, Tbilisi, and Rozvadov. The latter event attracted 715 runners for the €1,650 Main Event, and also organised a €3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, and a €25,000 Super High Roller. Overall, the Main Events at the international stops averaged 536 entrants. It was evident; the world wanted to see more of the WSOPC.
And that’s what they are going to get.
WSOP officials have announced Season 13 of the WSOPC and have already booked six international stops, with eight more predicted by the end of the season.
The tour returns to the Casino Campione, Italy Sep 16-20. It heads to Spielbank Berlin, Germany Oct 6-9. Then it shoots over to The King’s Casino, Rozvadov, Czech Rep. Nov 10-14. Hops on a plane bound to Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino, St Maarten, Caribbean Nov 12-15. Refuels, before giving the French some much needed live poker at Cercle Clichy Montmartre, Paris, Nov 23-27, and finally to the Enjoy Conrad Punta Del Este, Punta del Este, Uruguay Dec 8-11.
There are 22 confirmed stops in the US.
The two new stops are at Potawatomi, Milwaukee Feb 2-13, 2017, and Hard Rock, Tulsa Mar 16-27. The IP stop in Biloxi returns after a year absence on Sep 8-19, 2016. Las Vegas will host two stops in Planet Hollywood and Bally’s, and Harrah’s Cherokee, the Global Championship venue, will be the only place to host three events.
The date for the WSOP Global Casino Championship is unknown, but we do know $1m in additional prize money will be bunged into the kitty. The methods of qualifying for this event remain unchanged with gold ring winners, casino champions, and highest point earners grabbing their seats before it opens up to the very best pros in the world to buy-in for $10,000 per head.
All stops are being encouraged by the WSOP to include Senior and Ladies events. If any of them exceed, 100 players the winners will be able to buy-in to the finale for $10,000.
The 2016/17 WSOPC kicks off August 4 at the Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina.
