Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer SLYDE have extended their partnership with PokerStars, with the news that they will now partner the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).
It might not be easy for poker to marry up with non-gambling corporations but one market that does seem to have the time for us is the luxury watch manufacturer.
Swiss manufacturer SLYDE have deepened their relationship with PokerStars after agreeing to partner PokerStars LIVE Macau and the APPT. The new arrangement will see the winners of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event and the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker Main Event, receive a specially designed titanium watch worth $8,480.
Talking about the deal, APPT President Danny McDonagh said, “PokerStars LIVE Macau is delighted to welcome SLYDE to our events. We are excited to offer our event winners the opportunity to wear these magnificent pieces of art on their wrists as part of their prize.”
PokerStars will also promote the SLYDE brand in Europe after agreeing to extend their partnership for the 11th Season of the European Poker Tour (EPT).
Special Black and Steel watches, with a retail value of over €5,000, will be issued to the winner of each Main Event, High Roller and Super High Roller events, and the winner of the EPT Grand Final will receive a specially designed Black and Rose watch worth an estimated €9,000.
EPT President Edgar Stuchly said, “The EPT is thrilled to once again be working with SLYDE for a third consecutive year and offering an amazing gift for our Main Event and High Roller winners. The watches are truly something special—a keepsake to complement the amazing achievement of winning an EPT title.”
Raphaël Bertschy, chief operating officer at SLYDE Watch SA, added, “We are looking forward to another exciting EPT season full of innovation, growth and new milestones. The SLYDE brand shares similar attributes and ambitions with the EPT and we look forward to another great season of events.”
The World Poker Tour (WPT) partner with Hublot, the Swiss luxury watch designer who you might remember from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where their brand was used as the time-board to showcase the number of minutes of injury time that would be played.
WPT World Championships winner Keven Stammen was awarded with a Hublot King Power Unico Chronograph watch after his victory in Atlantic City.
