The Asian Poker Tour has established itself as one of the premier poker organizers in Asia, having done numerous events in various Asian countries, including the Philippines, Macau, India, Cambodia, and South Korea.
This December, the APT will add another country to its cap when it stages its first-ever event in Sydney, Australia.
Yes, mates. The Asian Poker Tour is headed Down Under.
Together with the National Poker League and The Star Casino, the Asian Poker Tour will be going to Sydney to host what could be very well be the biggest poker tournament in New South Wales history. The event has fittingly been named ‘APT Sydney 2013’ and it will combine the NPL500 and Star Summer Series and turn it into one incredible poker tournament that’s expected to generate as much as AUD$1.5 million in prize money.
The APT Sydney will be held at The Star Casino, Sydney from December 5-8 as part of the Summer Series, which, in itself, kicks off November 27.
APT Sydney 2013 is setting up to be quite an extraordinary, if not historic, poker event in Sydney, Australia. With the NRL possessing a player base of well over 350,000 members, APT Sydney is set to feature a lot of these players, mixed in with some of the best poker pros from all over the region, a lot of whom will be making their maiden trips to Sydney.
This tournament is going to be a doozy and NRL spokesperson Joe Hachem, who himself has also been an APT-sponsored player, couldn’t help but express his excitement for the event. “This event provides poker enthusiasts the opportunity to test their skills not only against the best players from around Australia, but also at an international level now that APT is to be involved in the future,” the Australian poker pro said.
“It’s this type of event that will produce Australia’s next big poker star.”
Jeff Mann, the CEO of the Asian Poker Tour, was also thrilled about the new partnership between the NPL, the APT, and the Star Casino’s Summer Series. “This time around we are only associated with the Main Event,” Mann said.
“But we are looking forward to much stronger ties with the NPL and Star Casino moving forward and thus ensuring an expanding APT presence in Australia.”
