Colossus Bets announce Conscious Colossus ‘good causes’ scheme and nominate first 3 charities

Colossus Bets, the pioneering provider of global sports jackpots, have announced a formal scheme for supporting charitable organisations and initiatives. Conscious Colossus aims to target four ‘areas of responsibility’, covering a wide range of causes, from the advancement of sports within communities to responsible gambling education and animal welfare. Colossus Bets’ CCO, Eva Karagianni-Goel, commented: “As a company, we are fortunate to provide an inherently responsible product with a low impact ethos designed to minimise problem gambling. But for a while, we’ve also talked about taking a stance on what it means to be a responsible company in a far broader sense and this is how Conscious Colossus came to be. The scheme is about engaging with causes that are close to our hearts as citizens and humans, not just providers of a gambling product, and we are really excited to start this journey with 3 amazing charities that have impressed us with their spirit and impact.”

Conscious Colossus commits to support these charities with funding, as well as with raising awareness for their objectives through Colossus’ own media channels. The vision is to establish long-term partnerships, as opposed to offer one-off donations, to be further reinforced through Colossus team volunteer days and fundraisers.

Ben Sadler, CEO at Alive and Kicking, said: “Alive and Kicking’s mission is to use the power of sport to create ethical jobs, deliver vital health education and give thousands of people access to sport. Conscious Colossus is a charity initiative that seeks to harness the power of a multi-million pound industry in order to have a positive impact across the sporting community. Through that sporting link, Alive and Kicking will be able to use the support from Conscious Colossus to strengthen our impact further.”

Lisa Morris, CEO at the Greyhound Trust, added: “We are thrilled that Conscious Colossus have chosen to partner with the Greyhound Trust as one of their charities of choice. The Greyhound Trust homes between 3,500 and 4,000 retired greyhounds a year and helps them make the transition from athlete to pet, but we need to do more. Our vision is a day when all racing greyhounds retire to loving homes and are treated with compassion and kindness – and this partnership takes us a step closer to this vision.”

Lesley Blackband, Head of Partnerships at YGAM, concluded: “YGAM was founded in 2014 to address the gap in education around gambling. Our workshops and awareness programmes provide the tools and resources to help young and vulnerable people make informed choices around gambling, gaming and their potential risks. Partnerships like the one with Conscious Colossus help us to expand our services and we hope that it will inspire more companies to support our work.”
