Bill Perkins‘s StreamBoat 2 picks up an impressive sponsor who gives six punters a chance to win a berth on the yacht when it sets sail from the Caribbean island of St Thomas.
“Love, exciting and new. Come on board, we’re expecting you.”
In the 80s, those words jumped out of my idiot box tearing at my eardrums, as the image of the Pacific Princess cut away my cornea.
It was Sunday.
It was The Love Boat, and I hated it.
Nearly four decades later, and Bill Perkins is breathing new life into floating digital entertainment. Instead of The Love Boat, we get the StreamBoat, and instead of Robert Vaughn, Ted Lange, Gavin MacLeod, Fred Grandy, and Ted McGinley, we get Bill Perkins, Jeff Gross, Kevin Martin, and the brothers Staples.
All we need is a sick theme tune.
The original StreamBoat debuted in late March, with Perkins skippering the Twitchathon centred around the British Virgin Islands. It was a great success, with decent feedback from the biting poker community. So much so that Perkins is getting prepared to launch The StreamBoat2, and a few things have changed since the maiden voyage, although one thing remains the same.
Since the first aquatic adventure, Jeff Gross has signed up as a member of PokerStars Team Pro, and it is the largest online poker room in the world who will act as sponsor of the second trip.
Perkins’s yacht leaves the Caribbean island of St Thomas on September 11, and poker fans will get the opportunity to watch them play, and screw around, on Twitch for the whole week.
And you can even join them.
PokerStars is offering five different ways you can reserve a bunk.
The first is to participate in home games hosted by the streamers:
Here are the schedules:
· Aug 30 – Bill Perkins (ID 2105403) password – singularity**
· Aug 31 – Jaime Staples (ID 1960084) password Chili Hype*
· Sep 1 – Jeff Gross (ID 1996486) password Jeff Gross**
· Sep 2 – Matt Staples (ID 2032521) password microarmy*
*All times 20:00 (CET) except Matt Staples which will be 17:00 (CET)
** Available on .Net, all other games are on .Com
The second opportunity is to qualify via a freeroll held on the primary PokerStars client. Search for ‘Streamboat’ to register. The event takes place Sep 3 at 20:00 (CET).
Six lucky pirates will join the gang on board the StreamBoat. The way to qualify is to reach the final two tables of the Home Games hosted by Martin and the brother’s Staples, or just participate in the Gross and Perkins Home Games.
If you do this, you are eligible to submit a one minute video to PokerStars convincing them that you are the right pick for a berth on the StreamBoat.
PokerStars will select the six winners on Sep 7, and you will get to spend four nights on the yacht rubbing sunscreen on the backs of the stars.
Other notes:
12 players who qualify from the primary PokerStars freeroll earn a $215 Sunday Million ticket.
Deadlines for video submissions are:
· Bill Perkins – August 31, 20:00 CET
· Jaime Staples – September 1, 20:00 CET
· Jeff Gross – September 2, 20:00 CET
· Kevin Martin / Matt Staples – September 3, 20:00 CET
· PokerStars – September 4, 20:00 CET
I told you that a lot of things had changed,
but I also said one thing hadn’t changed.
Poor old Matt Staples is still the only one not to have a PokerStars patch on his arm.
Come on Stars, sit back, listen to the Love Boat theme tune and make a young lad’s dream come true.
