Phil Hellmuth Jr reacts to a Terrence Chan bad beat by calling him a moronic motherfucker, and Phil Ivey escapes harm in Bobby’s Room thanks to his bodyguard.
If the sticks and stones police were on duty at the Rio this past weekend, there would have been a warrant out for the arrest of one Phil Hellmuth Jr.
Deep in the business end of the $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship, Hellmuth clashed with Terrence Chan, in a hand where Hellmuth was in the lead with a flopped set of Jacks, and Chan made a loose river call chasing Broadway.
Chan hit his miracle card on the river to win the hand, and Hellmuth ditched the harp sounding ‘Well Done’ mate tap of the table, for the Megadeth heavy metal guitar sounding, ‘Moronic Motherfucker’ 10-minute rant.
Under normal circumstances, it’s not wise to tangle with a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) cage fighter, but these aren’t normal circumstances; this is Phil Hellmuth we are talking about, here.
So rather than Chan getting Hellmuth in an ankle lock, he instead, quietly called the floor and asked them politely to admonish Mr Hellmuth for using foul and abusive language.
Hellmuth finished in sixteenth place.
Chan made the final table, finishing in eighth.
During an interview with PokerNews Chan pointed out that if Hellmuth had behaved like with a recreational player, then it would probably put them off the game.
Once again, as I wrote when Kevin Hart dry humped the table during the Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB), this is another example of reputation leading to bias when it comes to what is acceptable in this great game of ours.
People are dealing with the incident in a humorous way, because calling someone a moronic motherfucker for ten minutes has become part of the Phil Hellmuth act. We want him to explode because that’s what makes him so watchable.
But what would have happened if a bald headed, hard bastard looking Russian guy would have called Terrence Chan a moronic motherfucker for ten minutes.
How would the media cover that particular story?
In fairness to Hellmuth, he did apologise.
I apologize for losing it Terrance Chan!! I fought so hard, was so intense, that I lost my cool. Well handled Terrance Chan, well handled. https://t.co/HMPb1nGP1q

It’s quite ironic that Phil Hellmuth’s next book it to be one on positivity.
A Fist Fight in Bobby’s Room?
Terrence Chan may have handled Hellmuth’s outburst like a vivisectionist handles a trained monkey, but the same cannot be said for an alleged incident that happened in Bobby’s Room.
According to Gus Hansen’s Instagram account, there has been a $3k/$6k mixed game taking place at the infamous Bellagio Poker Room throughout the World Series of Poker (WSOP), and a few nights ago a fist fight took place.
Hansen’s beaten 2007 Aussie Millions opponent, Jimmy Fricke, reported the news on Twitter.
Full on fist fight in Bobby’s room just broke out. Was over pretty quick but wow.

Later stating that the problems began when someone tried to have a pop at the soon to be Poker Hall of Fame inductee Phil Ivey.
Apparently between Ivey’s bodyguard and some guy in the game.

A bodyguard?
Does he think he’s Whitney Houston?
So there you are Terrence Chan, spend some of that $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship eighth place finish money wisely, and hire a bodyguard to fight off those moronic motherfuckers.
Do things the right way.
Do things the Ivey way.
