Former Teen Wolf star, Tyler Posey, earned $40,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society after beating both celebrities and pros in the Poker Central Charity Shootout event in Las Vegas.
A wolf has eaten the fish at the Poker Central Charity Shootout event held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
The event – which completely flew under the radar of this writer – took place on Saturday. The action was streamed live on Poker Central’s Twitch channel.
The format featured five celebrities and a Zynga qualifier. The top three split $45,000 in prize money before advancing to the second phase where they competed in heads-up action against Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Maria Ho.
The celebs were former UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, former Beverly Hills 90210 actress Jennie Garth, Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey and Orange is the New Black favourite Jackie Cruz.
The Zynga qualifier was Jennifer Maddox, a sales coordinator for Auto Parts in Vancouver, WA. Maddox won the seat and a two-night stay at the Paris Hotel after winning a sweepstake on Zynga Poker.
Tyler Posey ultimately won the event after defeating Tony Hawk in heads-up action to earn $20,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Hawk banked $15,000 for the Tony Hawk Foundation, and Chuck Liddel finished third earning $10,000 for the St. Jude Foundation.
For winning the event, Posey chose to play heads-up against Phil Hellmuth (he obviously wasn’t aware Hellmuth wrote the book on playing against wolves in Don’t Play With the Pros). Tony Hawk took on Maria Ho and Chuck Liddel squared off against Daniel Negreanu.
Negreanu beat Liddel to earn another $10,000 for the St. Jude Foundation. Maria Ho beat Tony Hawk to win $10,000 for the Malala Fund. But it was Posey’s night, making another $10,000 for his charity after beating Hellmuth in a good-natured contest that had more twists and turns than one of those bendy straws pregnant women use when they are crazy enough to have a home birth.
Posey later told Maria Ho, who was commenting alongside Ali Nejad, that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was important to him because his mother and aunt died of breast cancer.
Poker Central will broadcast the action on the TV some time before Christmas.
